Since many people use the shotgun as their primary home defense weapon, we will utilize this class to train participants on the proper and safest way possible to clear a room or home with a firearm or how to protect themselves & their family from an intruder.
A shotgun for home defense can be an awesome tool. Knowing how to use it efficiently and effectively is even better! We will teach our participants the safe way to proficiently defend against an intruder or attacker.
Safety is our primary concern, but we will teach you skills and techniques to replicate handling a shotgun under stress during a possible critical incident. Bear in mind, this course is not to teach "range or adminstrative shotgun shooting skills", but rather more realistic re-life scenarios to prepare you against possible life-threatening situations.
This course will engage mutliple targets in a live 270 degree shoot house and will incorporate transitions from your shotgun to your handgun. Participants ar asked to bring their carry rig (sidearm with holster and/or concealment set-up) and will practice effectively transitioning from one to the other and back, including reloads. THis will be a high-paced class with shooting on the move and under stress.
Participants are asked to bring three shotgun shells for the class: 100 rnd(s) of bird shot, 25 rnd(s) of buck shot and 15 rnd(s) slugs. In addition, participants should bring a 150 rnd(s) of their sidearm ammunition (i.e., 9mm) for transition training and practice.
Equipment Required:
• Shotgun: pump or semi-auto in desired caliber
• Must have side saddle or saddle stock (auxiliary shotgun shell holder)
• Sling for shotgun
• Side arm in holster (i.e., 9mm handgun in a sturdy holster with strong belt)
• 140 rnd(s) total: 100 rnd(s) bird shot, 25 rnd(s) buck shot, 15 rnd(s) slugs
• 150 rnd(s) side arm ammunition (i.e., 9mm)
• If you have any, bring your tactical gear)
• Lunch, drinks, snacks
• Eye and Ear protection
We are an all-weather training facility - meaning we train indoors and outdoors year round. Please bring range and weather appropriate attire for class.
Preregistration is preferred; Participants taking the single-day class may register for $100; Register for both days $205. ETC Alumni may participate in the single day class for $85.
